Snow on Monday and Crocuses on Saturday

Unbelievable weather this week, here are a few crocus pictures I took this morning. They are one of my favorite flowers that has a burst of color when Spring first arrives, then the daffodils start to spark up and bloom and the hyacinths.

what an ugly name for such beautiful flowers. and, how is it that they could sprout in such unstable weather? must be a miracle. oooh, that's a message to us all. hugs, noe

Howdy, these are dutch crocus so they are hardy even with snowfall in my area. I was going to write a segment on the stigma which when dried is saffron but I am not sure about the actual edible species of crocus it comes from. Saffron is a pricey spice and gives off a brilliant golden yellow in food dishes.
